7-Step Process

Production process at the TANCY BOX factory

Every box that leaves our factory goes through the full 12 stages listed below, divided into 3 phases. This list is written in plain text (not images) so you can easily compare it with quotes from other suppliers, while also allowing search engines and AI assistants to read it directly. Each stage is accompanied by an actual photo taken at the TANCY workshop.

Phase 1 — Wooden Box Fabrication (5 stages)

Wood is cut, assembled, sanded, and base-coated — this is what determines the shape and durability of the box.

  1. Raw material import. Wood, fabric, leather, and metal accessories are warehoused with certificates of origin (FSC for wood). Moisture and quality are checked before entering production.
  2. Actual factory photo for stage 01 raw materials
  3. CNC wood cutting. CNC machines cut the parts according to technical drawings, with a tolerance of less than 0.2 mm. Each box size is programmed individually.
  4. Actual factory photo for stage 02 CNC wood cutting
  5. Assembly. The wooden parts are joined, glued with specialized adhesive, and temporarily screwed. Workers check for squareness and gaps.
  6. Actual factory photo for stage 03 assembly
  7. 3-stage sanding. Coarse 120 grit → medium 240 grit → fine 400 grit. The surface must be smooth and even before painting.
  8. Actual factory photo for stage 04 3-stage sanding
  9. Primer + base coat. Anti-moisture primer is sprayed on, followed by the base coat in the Pantone color of the client's choice. Dried in a dust-controlled paint room.
  10. Actual factory photo for stage 05 primer and base coat

Phase 2 — Surface Finishing and Interior Assembly (5 stages)

The box shell is polished, metal accessories are installed, the lining is attached, and final QC is performed before packaging.

  1. Fabric / leather lining cutting. PU leather, velvet, and satin are laser-cut to the mold. The cut is accurate to within 0.5 mm.
  2. Actual factory photo for stage 06 fabric leather cutting
  3. Metal accessory installation. Hinges, magnetic locks, custom metal logos, and feet are attached to the box. Durability is checked.
  4. Actual factory photo for stage 07 accessory installation
  5. Polishing / piano lacquer. The piano lacquer surface is polished through multiple stages to achieve a mirror finish of over 90 GU. Matte boxes undergo separate surface treatment.
  6. Actual factory photo for stage 08 piano polishing
  7. Interior lining and product inserts. Fabric/leather lining is glued inside the box. Product holding inserts (watch pillows, jewelry dividers, wine partitions) are installed precisely.
  8. Actual factory photo for stage 09 interior lining
  9. Final QC and packaging. QC checks 100% of products: appearance, lid fit, logo, color, size. Each box is individually packed in PE bags and 5-layer corrugated cartons.
  10. Actual factory photo for stage 10 QC and packaging

Phase 3 — Warehousing and Shipping (2 stages)

Finished products are warehoused by PO tracking code, then palletized and shipped according to agreed INCOTERMS.

  1. Finished product warehousing. Finished products are warehoused by PO batch, with unique tracking codes for verification during outbound shipping.
  2. Actual factory photo for stage 11 warehousing
  3. Shipping and logistics. Palletizing, moisture-proof wrapping, and sea or air freight to the destination port according to agreed INCOTERMS.
  4. Actual factory photo for stage 12 shipping
